Government engaging German company to operate gas to energy power plant – Brassington

The government has shortlisted and started negotiations with the German company, Siemens Energy as the potential firm to operate and manage the power plant component of the transformative gas-to-energy (GTE) project in Wales, Region Three.

The Office of the Prime Minister, under which the project is being executed, invited requests for proposal (RFPs) in 2024, and three international companies: Siemens Energy (Germany); CH4 Systems (Puerto Rico), and Ethos Energy ((Texas, USA) expressed interests.

US company looking to launch refined fuel deal with Guyana

A US-based company is planning a significant investment in Guyana’s oil and gas sector, aiming to process 30,000 barrels of oil daily by year’s end. 

President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali stated that the initiative is expected to meet national demand and extend services to neighbouring Brazil and the wider region.

“[It] will see refined products coming into Guyana at cheaper prices and that will see us creating a hub for the rest of the region here in Guyana,” the president disclosed.

Gas-to-Energy Project – Dispute Resolution Process

As has been widely reported in the media, certain matters of dispute in connection with the Gas-to-Energy (GTE) 300 MW Integrated Plant between the Government of Guyana (GOG) and the Contractor, Lindsayca/CH4, were referred to the Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Board (DAAB) on 19 September 2024.

On 31 January 2025, the DAAB issued their ruling on the matters referred to it. In relation to this ruling, the parties to the dispute resolution process are bound by certain rules of confidentiality.

Gas to energy project, electronic ID to advance as $141.5B approved for Prime Minister’s Office

A massive $141.45 billion in budgetary allocations have been approved for the Office of the Prime Minister, paving the way for the completion of key transformative projects, including the landmark Gas-to-energy project at Wales and the electronic identification card (e-ID), among many others.

Some $65.8 billion in capital allocations and current expenditures totaling $75.6 billion were approved by the Committee of Supply on Monday at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC), following extensive scrutiny by the parliamentary opposition

Guyana showcasing agricultural potential at energy conference

The Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo (GECSCE) launched its inaugural Conference Village at the Kingston Seawall Esplanade Monday morning.

This unique event will showcase the country’s diverse agricultural products and investment opportunities.

The Conference Village offers agro-processors and farmers a platform to showcase their products and produce, highlighting Guyana’s growing agricultural sector.

It will run from February 17 to 21 between 10 am and 5:30 pm and is a partnership between the Guyana Energy Conference and the Ministry of Agriculture.
