Energy our Priority

President Irfaan Ali envisions Guyana as a leading regional and global energy hub, leveraging its vast oil and gas reserves while simultaneously advancing renewable energy initiatives. The government is focused on ensuring energy security, using oil revenues to fund national development, and positioning Guyana as a reliable energy exporter. Investments in natural gas infrastructure aim to provide a cleaner, more stable power supply, reducing dependence on imported fuels and lowering electricity costs for businesses and households.

As part of its transition to sustainable energy, Guyana is prioritizing hydropower projects by utilizing its natural waterfalls and rivers to generate low-cost, renewable electricity. The government is also fostering public-private partnerships to expand solar, wind, and biomass energy solutions, particularly in rural areas. These efforts align with Guyana’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions while enhancing its national energy grid and improving access to clean energy.

While Guyana continues to develop its oil sector, it is committed to environmentally responsible production, minimizing emissions through low-carbon extraction techniques and carbon offset initiatives. President Ali has emphasized that Guyana will be one of the last oil producers, ensuring a stable energy supply during the global transition to renewables. By balancing economic growth with sustainability, Guyana aims to play a crucial role in the future of global energy markets
