President Ali joins spectators, revellers at Mash 2025 costume, float parade

President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Sunday joined spectators and revellers along the Mashramani costume and float parade route.  

During an interview with media operatives during the road parade on Church Street, Georgetown, President Ali expressed immense satisfaction with the large number of people at this year’s exciting and vibrant float parade, saying that it exemplifies the ‘One Guyana’ concept – unity, love and togetherness. 

2025 Mash celebrations attract thousands

The streets of Georgetown came alive as thousands of enthusiastic patrons came out to witness the Mashramani float parade on Sunday.

Revellers exhibiting their creatively curated costumes danced their way down Church Street then on to Vlissengen Road as onlookers lined the pavements, immersed in the explosion of culture, colors and creativity on display.

Mashramani brings together Guyanese and tourists from all walks of life as they celebrate this much anticipated cultural event.

President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali has outlined several key issues that Guyana will prioritise at the 48th Regular Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government, as part of efforts to advance regional integration and economic growth.

The meeting runs from February 19-21 in Bridgetown, Barbados, and will address longstanding concerns including the free movement of people, trade barriers, regional transportation, food and energy security, and upcoming elections across the region.

Gov’t ramps up efforts to boost HPV vaccination coverage to 90%

The government is intensifying efforts to increase human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination coverage to 90 per cent as part of its strategy to reduce cervical cancer risks.

During a recent commissioning ceremony in Region Ten, Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony underscored the importance of the HPV vaccine and highlighted the progress made in expanding vaccination coverage.
